Let's go on a boat ride.

Robbie's parents came to visit for the weekend. I can't tell you how nice it is to see some familiar California faces here in Austin. I loved having Morgan visit in February and during South by Southwest my friend Rachel and Robbie's friend Sam were in town.

Having familiar faces around every couple of weekends has really helped to make the move to Austin a lot easier. It makes 1,300 miles from home seem more like 130. Thank goodness for good friends and supportive family. You guys have made what could have been a scary and lonely move much happier with your support.

Robbie used to live in Michigan before he became a Californian. Now he's a Texan and is more confused than ever about what to call home!! In Michigan, he grew up on this fantastic lake and has a million stories about fishing and swimming with his brother and the neighborhood kids. The water has always been part of his life. Even in California, he lived less than a mile away from the ocean. And in college, less than 10 miles away from the ocean. Now, we're in Austin and still can't seem to get enough of the water here.

Because of his family's affinity for lakes, Robbie and I took his parents to Lake Travis for an afternoon boat ride.

Mr. Moen at the helm.

Robbie and Phil were brave enough to get in the cold water and do some wakeboarding.

Phil! Love his sunglasses. I may steal them.

Robbie wakeboarding like a pro.

Keeping my eye on Phil's awesome sunglasses.

Me and Tim!

Can you tell the Moens are from Michigan?

Love this shot for some reason.

Thanks, VIP for letting us drive your boat into the ground. We were not gentle with that boat.

Marilyn and I having wine, as usual. We like to keep things classy.

Robbie and his mom. This is my favorite picture of the weekend.

The fish weren't biting.

Phil trying out the wakeboard.

It was such a beautiful weekend. Perfect weather and great company.

  2. It seems like such a fun and relaxing day. Me and my boyfriend used to go fishing all the time...it's been way too long. I may just have to suggest a fishing trip soon.

    1. We'll have to rent a party barge one day soon! There were a bunch of party barges on Lake Travis with 30+ people on them! Looked like a blast.
